The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is currently assisting Oakland Public Schools (OPS) officers who earlier were pursuing a burglary suspect. Police activity continues in the 700 block of Adeline Street. Adeline Street between 7th and 8th Streets remains closed to all traffic.
Background:
At approximately 10:45 AM, it was reported that a suspect, described as an African-American male adult in his late 20s, walked into OPS Research Offices and removed several laptop computers. The suspect fled the scene with the loss. OPS officers pursued the suspect, who was on his bicycle, to the 700 block of Adeline Street. The suspect was able to barricade himself inside a residence. Currently, OPD is on-scene with OPS and assisting.
