UPDATE: Shooting 6/13
At approx 1:30 pm on 6/2/13 the Battle Creek PD responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Greenwood. It appears that a b/m suspect pulled up in front of a residence, exited the vehicle and shot numerous rounds at the 34 yr victim striking hom twice in the legs. The suspect then got back into the vehicle and fled the area. He has not yet been located.
The suspect is described as a b/m in his twenties, approx 6 ft tall with a large build and facial hair. The vehicle is described as a red or burgundy midsize car 6-8 years old.
The victim was transported to Bronson Battle Creek and is currently in stable condition.
Charges have been approved against Dawon Dupree Haymer, born in 1987, in connection with the shooting on 6/2 in front of 64 Greenwood Ave. Investigators from the Battle Creek Police Dept. believe that Haymer was the subject that fired several rounds at the victim, Jonathon Mark Jones born in 1979, before fleeing the area. Haymer has been charged with Assault with intent to murder, CCW, Felony Firearm, and Felon in possession of firearm. Haymer’s whereabouts are currently unknown but he is considered armed and dangerous.
On 6/12/13 Dawon Haymer was located in Shreveport, Louisiana. Haymer was taken into custody by local authorities and will be extradited back to Batle Creek to face charges from the June 2nd shooting on Greenwood Ave.
