The City of Kansas City, Mo., reminds residents that its First District Public Improvements Advisory Committee (PIAC) hearings are scheduled for this week. Residents are encouraged to attend and provide suggestions for possible public improvements. This week's hearings are scheduled as follows:

Tuesday, June 11, 2013, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Maple Woods Community College #132
2601 N.E. Barry Road

Thursday, June 13, 2013, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Kansas City North Community Center
3930 N.E. Antioch Road

PIAC comprises 13 members – two residents from each council district and a chairperson – who are appointed by the mayor and City Council. PIAC will use public input from the hearings to make recommendations to the City Council regarding both the citywide and neighborhood portions of the Fiscal Year 2014-15 capital budget. Project funding comes from the one-cent sales tax for public improvements.

Past projects funded through PIAC include flood control, storm drainage, street resurfacing, bridge repairs, traffic signals, tree trimming and planting, and improvements to parks and trails.
