Foothill Road is now open to all traffic

At about 1:08 P.M. today, a vehicle travelling N/B on Foothill Rd. struck two bicyclists (a husband and wife) who were also riding N/B on Foothill Rd., approximately 1/4 mile south of Golden Eagle Way. The wife was ejected from her bicycle. Despite life-saving efforts she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her husband was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, an 18 year-old Pleasanton resident, stopped at the scene. Due to the nature of this accident, members of the Pleasanton Police Department’s Special Operations Unit were called out and will be handling the investigation.

The identities of the victims and driver of the vehicle are not being released at this time. A supplemental press release with additional information will be completed as deemed appropriate.

Foothill Road was closed between Castlewood Dr. and Golden Eagle Wy. until 8:20 PM to facilitate the investigation of this collision. Anybody who may have information related to the investigation is asked to call the Pleasanton Police Department at (925) 931-5100.
