Pool and Splash Pad Open at Alondra Community Regional Park in Lawndale

On June 7, 2013, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Director Russ Guiney, gathered at Alondra Community Regional Park in Lawndale for the opening of the new recreational facilities.
After four years of anticipation, $16.5 million worth of new recreational facilities and improvements were unveiled on August 30. New facilities at Alondra Park include a 25 x 25 meter pool, a 6,000-square-foot pool house and recreation building, and a 3,000 – square-foot water “splash pad” area — all of which will be welcome relief as 2012 is on schedule to become the hottest year in United States history. The upgraded park, however, has other amenities as well, including a 14,000-square-foot skateboard park, a new restroom building, and new picnic shelters.
Alondra Community Regional Park located at 3850 W. Manhattan Beach Boulevard, Lawndale.
Also on hand at the opening was Captain Stephen Smith commander of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Parks Bureau and deputies from the bureau who provide law enforcement services for Alondra Community Regional Park, along with the 177 county parks, golf courses and special event venues throughout Los Angeles County.
