The North Aurora Police Department is investigating seven “Drano” bomb incidents which have occurred on the Village’s west side in the past week.

Drano bombs are homemade overpressure devices commonly made out of plastic bottles and household chemicals, such Drano or other pipe clog remover. Below are the incident locations and date/time of incident.

• 700 blk. of Magnolia Dr – Saturday, May 25th at approximately 4:20 a.m.

• 3 homes in the 1400 blk. of Oakland Cir. – Saturday, June 1st at approximately 4:45 a.m.

• 100 blk. of Hidden Creek – Reported Monday, June 3rd, occurred sometime in week prior.

• 100 blk. of E. Victoria Cir. – Reported Monday, June 3rd, occurred May 29th-June 1st

• 100 blk. of E. Victoria Cir. – Reported Wednesday, June 5th, occurred June 1st.

There were no injuries in any of the incidents. All of the bottles used were small 16 oz or similar bottles such as bottled water, Gatorade, and Vitamin Water. All incidents remain under investigation by the North Aurora Police Department.

The North Aurora Police Department asks that citizens be on the lookout and call 911 if you see any of these:

• Unusual behavior from teenagers or young adults, such as creeping around the property of others in the overnight and early morning hours.

• Teenagers or young adults detonating devices that may be mistaken for fireworks in their backyards or empty fields (experimentation).

• Teenagers or young adults seeking access to household chemicals such as Drano or other pipe clog removers, aluminum foil, and plastic bottles.

Please remember that these devices, while homemade, can be dangerous. Their explosion could cause serious injuries such as acid burns or the loss of a finger. If you find one of these devices, back away and call 911.
