Two events may cause minor traffic delays in Lomita and Rancho Palos Verdes during the morning of Monday June 3rd.

On Monday, June 3rd, 2013, Deputies from Lomita Station will be participating in two events that may cause minor traffic delays.

The first will be Lomita Station's leg of the Special Olympics of Southern California Law Enforcement Torch Run. Lomita Station will receive the torch from LAPD Harbor Division around 9:00am at 25th Street where it turns into Palos Verdes Drive South in Rancho Palos Verdes. Our runners will then carry the torch westbound along Palos Verdes Drive South past Trump National Golf Course and Terranea Resort, then northbound on Palos Verdes Drive West to Lunada Vista where the torch will be handed off to Palos Verdes Estates Police Department. Runners will be followed by a support vehicle along the route.

For more information regarding the Special Olympics Torch Run, please visit: http://www.sosc.org/page.aspx?pid=288.

The second event will be in the city of Lomita also around 9:00am. Deputies from Lomita Station will be escorting children from 3 elementary schools to Lomita Park for Lomita's annual Anti-Gang and Drug Free Walk. As students walk from their schools to the park, deputies will be temporarily halting traffic to insure safe passage of the students. Minor traffic delays should be expected at Pacific Coast Highway and Eshelman Avenue as well as at Lomita Boulevard and Eshelman Avenue.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation of motorists as we support these worthy causes!
