Outdoor Warning Sirens & Preparedness

Residents are reminded that outdoor warning sirens are intended to warn people who are outside. Outdoor warning systems are not intended, nor will they necessarily wake you if you are sleeping; it can be difficult to hear them inside modern, well insulated buildings.

Residents are strongly encouraged to purchase a weather warning radio that will alert you in your home/business when severe weather is threatening. Further, once you hear a siren you must tune to a local media station to listen for further instructions. Outdoor warning sirens in our area are used during tornado warnings and nuclear emergencies.

Stay tuned to local media sources when severe weather threatens. Contact the Fire District or the Local Emergency Management Agency for information regarding a preparedness kit.
