White Fire - No Status Change - 7:00am, Thursday, 30 May 2013

The Forest Service has provided the following update to the White Fire:

No significant changes today. Weather is expected to be hotter and dryer today with winds diminishing. No open flames, just smoldering materials can be found within the burn area. The fire line is wind tested. There is a potential for flair ups and rolling material to ignite fires across the fire line. Dozer lines are being rehabbed.

Cause: Under investigation

Size / Area Involved: 1984 acres, revised due to more accurate mapping of the fire

Percent Contained: 90%

Estimated Costs to Date: $1,500,000

Injuries / Fatalities: none

Structures Threatened / Damaged / Destroyed: One structure was damaged, no structures are threatened. The lower Santa Ynez Recreation Area residents are able to return. No forest visitors are allowed

Forecasted Weather: temps in the mid to high 90’s, r/h 11 to 16% winds at 10-15 mph gusting to 25.

Committed Resources: 782 personnel assigned, 4 air tankers and 11 helicopters are available today.

Actions planned for next operational period: Hold, improve, construct line and mop up.

OEM will continue to minitor the situation and provided updates as they become available.
