Olive Fire Not Growing - 6:30pm, Tuesday, 28 May 2013

The SB County Fire Department has provided the following update to the Olive Fire which began at 3:23pm near Meadowdale and Olive in Santa Ynez.

The fire remains at 170 acres and is currently at 0% containment due to high winds, but fire lines are holding at this time.

The fire jumped Highway 246 and Highway 154. The forward progress of the fire was stopped at about 5 pm. Zero containment of the fire as of 6:45 pm due to high winds.

Sheriff has issued an evacuation warning to approx. 2,000 residents of nearby Santa Ynez.

Resources assigned include 9 engines, 2 water tenders, and 2 helicopters.

Highways 246 and 154 had been closed due to the smoke and fire department equipment working on the highway. The highways reopened at 6 pm.

Firefighters are continuing to mop up and improve the control lines.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

OEM will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
