Residential Burglary Suspects Arrested

LOCATION: 100 block of D Street, Redwood City

TYPE OF INCIDENT: Residential Burglary Suspects Arrested

SUSPECT #1: Naji Othman, 19 year-old, male, Belmont resident (photograh attached)

SUSPECT #2: 17 year-old, male, Redwood City resident

SUSPECT VEHICLE: 1992 Gold Cadillac Deville

INCIDENT SUMMARY:

On 5-22-13, at approximately 8:00 am the suspects burglarized a residence in the 100 block of D Street in Redwood City. The suspects broke a window in the rear of the residence and made entry. The suspects ransacked the residence and stole an Apple laptop computer. An alert neighbor saw the suspects leaving the victim’s residence and obtained the license plate and a description of their vehicle. Redwood City police initiated a “Be-On-The-Lookout” broadcast for the suspect vehicle. At approximately 6:30 pm an East Palo Alto police officer saw the vehicle driving in the area of Willow Road and Newbridge Street in East Palo Alto. The officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle and detained the suspects. Redwood City detectives responded to the scene and took custody of the suspects. A search of the vehicle revealed a shotgun in the trunk of the vehicle. The stolen Apple laptop computer was not recovered. Both suspects are active criminal street gang members. Suspect #1 was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for residential burglary, participating in a criminal street gang, and being a gang member in possession of a firearm. Suspect #2 was booked into the San Mateo County Juvenile Detention Center for residential burglary, participating in a criminal street gang, and being a gang member in possession of a firearm.
