On Tuesday, May 21st, 2013 at 7PM, a Suicide and Bullying Prevention Program will be held at the Saddle Brook High School. The program is entitled “Ryan’s Story”, a presentation provided for the community addressing bullying, cyber-bullying, teen depression and teen suicide prevention. The presentation is conducted by John Halligan who speaks about the tragic suicide of his 13 year-old son, Ryan. At the time of his death, Ryan was a middle school student who was subject to ridicule and humiliation by peers at school and on-line. Mr. Halligan is outspoken about the need for more education and prevention of bullying and teen suicide throughout the United States. The presentation begins at 7PM in the high school auditorium and is open to the public.

Ryan’s Story takes the attendees through lessons learned from the teen’s tragedy. Handouts are provided during the presentation regarding recommendations and useful information regarding modern technology use by teens.

Ryan’s Story is an approved activity by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and is sponsored by C.A.S.A., Saddle Brook’s Municipal Alliance organization. The program is a MUST-SEE for parents and any other person concerned for the well-being of young children. You will take away a lesson of a lifetime from Mr. Halligan and the need will then be to spread his message throughout your family, friends and community.
