Sheriff's Homicide detectives report that Juan Alexander Mejia Dubon, wanted for the murder of his father on Friday, May 17, 2013, has been taken into custody.

Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) Sheriff's Station deputies conducted a traffic stop this afternoon on a vehicle being driven by the suspect. Dubon was taken into custody without incident and no weapons were recovered.

Dubon is charged with Murder and was booked at the SCV Sheriff's Station and is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in the San Fernando Court on Monday, May 20, 2013.

Sheriff's Homicide detectives responded to the 1900 block of Newhouse Street, Canyon Country, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man that occurred on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11:47 PM.

Detectives have learned that the suspect, 31-year-old Juan Alexander Mejia Dubon arrived home intoxicated and began to argue with his parents. He produced a gun and shot his father in the head.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries today, May 17, 2013 at 12:52 PM.

The suspect fled the location and his whereabouts are unknown. Suspect Dubon is considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach or attempt to apprehend, if seen contact authorities. Dubon was born in Guatemala is 5'2", 117 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.
