AV Registered Offender Arrested for Secretly Videotaping Up Women's Skirts. LASD SVB Detectives Seek 100 Victims

Suspect Mylyn Johnson was seen inside a Target Store in Lancaster on Saturday, March 16, 2013, allegedly using his cellphone to videotape the undergarment areas of women wearing skirts or dresses. Suspect Johnson was detained after a female customer saw the suspect filming up a unsuspecting woman's skirt, and reported it to store security. Store security detained the suspect until Lancaster Sheriff's Station deputies arrived. He was arrested for several charges including the Unlawful Recording of Another’s Undergarments (647(j)(1) CA Penal Code.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau Detectives found thousands of videos of over 100 women filmed by Suspect Johnson. The videos were discovered on his cell phone and other media storage devices he had with him, and that were discovered by sheriff's investigators in his Lancaster home when a search warrant was served. Detectives have spent the past few months reviewing videos and contacting identifiable victims. They discovered that there are over 100 unidentified females between teenage and 50 years old, who were allegedly, unlawfully secretly recorded by Suspect Johnson.

During one incident at the K-Mart Store in Lancaster, Suspect Johnson contacted an unidentified female in the store. He identified himself as a security officer and detained her for shoplifting. He then ordered her to expose part of her buttocks under the guise that he was searching her. This incident was captured by Suspect Johnson on video and recovered by Sheriff's Special Victims Bureau detectives.

Detectives believe that Suspect Johnson secretly recorded the women throughout the Antelope Valley, including the Salvation Army Store, Lancaster International Shopping Mall, and aboard the Metrolink Train.

Recordings show that victims were filmed while on the Metrolink train, most likely as it traveled from the Antelope Valley to Union Station in the city of Los Angeles. There was additional unlawful, secretly recorded filming of women at Union Station as well as nearby Olvera Street. These are not the only locations where the recondings occurred. Several of these incidents were recorded as far back as August of 2012.

Ten victims have been identified by detectives during the investigation, yet over 100 women remain unidentified.

On several occasions the suspect would engage the women he was videotaping in conversation. He would identify himself as a tattoo artist, or being with “Loyal Luck Television,” and as a rap musician. Suspect Johnson is a registered sex offender.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has filed 15 counts against Suspect Johnson, including felony counts of False Imprisonment and Burglary, and several counts of the Unlawful Recording of Undergarments.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying other victims and witnesses to these crimes. The booking photo of the suspect has been provided.
