Horse Falls Out of Trailer on I-94
Porter County, Portage-At approximately 11:32 A.M., this morning, Master Trooper Dave Miller responded to I-94 west bound at the 20 mile marker (this is just east of the Portage exit) about a horse falling out of a trailer.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Perea Esequias Junior, 31 of Keene, Texas, was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram pick-up pulling a horse trailer in the left lane when the 8 year old Sorrell quarter horse inside kicked the rear door of the trailer open.
The horse fell out of the moving trailer and landed on the interstate. The horse broke one of his legs in the fall and had to be put down at the scene.
No vehicles hit the horse; all injuries were incurred due to the fall.
The interstate was closed for a short time for removal of the horse.
