Portage, Porter County-Indiana State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred this morning, Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the BP Gas Station located at 1 South Toll Plaza on the Indiana Toll Road.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Ronald Davidson revealed that at approximately 3:30 a.m., a black male, described as 6’ 2”, wearing a gray hoodie, dark jeans, and black tennis shoes, came around the counter inside the gas station and brandished a knife at the lone attendant. The employee received non-life threatening lacerations to their forearm. The black male took approximately $600 and fled on foot through the local exit into a sub lot on Plaza Road in Portage. It is believed he may have fled in an unknown vehicle in an unknown direction.
Some evidence was recovered at the scene.
