Repeat DUI Offender Arrested
for Felony DUI After Causing Injury Collision
On Monday night, April 22, 2013, at about 8:05pm, Petaluma Police 911 Dispatchers received multiple calls reporting an injury vehicle collision at the intersection of East Washington Street and Maria Street. Police and Fire Department units arrived on scene and found Sean Boles, age 46, from Petaluma under the influence of alcohol and drugs. A DUI investigation was conducted and Boles was arrested for felony DUI. In addition to the suspicion that he was under the influence of illegal drugs, his blood alcohol level was approximately .289, more than three times the legal limit. Boles was arrested previously for DUI in May of 2006 by the CHP.
Officers learned that Boles was driving EB on East Washington Street at the intersection with Maria Drive. While facing a solid green light that required he yield to approaching vehicles, he turned left (NB) onto Maria Drive in front of a WB vehicle. The driver and passenger in the victim vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Boles was transported to Sonoma County Jail with bail set at $100,000 because of his prior DUI arrest. Petaluma Police Department will follow this case involving Sean Boles and continue to monitor him and other DUI offenders in the future. Repeat and habitual DUI offender monitoring by Petaluma Police Department is made possible with grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
