Unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs have been determined to present substantial risks to our community by either falling into the wrong hands, or by damaging our environment through improper disposal. Prescription drugs are killing more San Diegans than ever before. According to the County's Prescription Drug Abuse Report Card and the Medical Examiner's Office, the number of people who died as a result of prescription drug abuse has increased over the past five years, from 211 in 2007 to 267 in 2011.
