Location: South Country Road and Academy Lane, Bellport
Date/Time: Monday, April 22, 2013 at 9:30 a.m.
Suffolk County Police today arrested a Mastic home health aide after she stole an 86-year-old patient’s Rolex watch and replaced it with a fake one.
On April 12, Joanne Pinder stole a Rolex watch belonging to an elderly male patient she was caring for and replaced the watch with a fake one. The victim, of Bellport Village, noticed that the watch was similar but counterfeit and notified police. At approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning, Fifth Precinct Officers Brian Loughlin and Kevin Yoli pulled Pinder over on South Country Road and Academy Lane in Bellport for an unrelated traffic violation. After further investigation, the victim’s Rolex, which has a value of more than $7,000, was found in Pinder’s vehicle.
Fifth Squad detectives charged Pinder, 22, of 29 Titmus Drive, Mastic, with Grand Larceny 5th Degree. She was also charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on April 22.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
