Outstanding Homicide Suspect Juan Guerra was arrested on April 19, 2013 at approximately 6:30 P.M. in the City of San Jose. This was a result of the investigative efforts of the Gilroy Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team in collaboration with the San Jose Police Department. Guerra was taken into custody at the intersection of Capitol Road and Snell Avenue in the City of San Jose. He was in a vehicle and was arrested by the San Jose Police Department without incident. There are no outstanding suspects associated to this homicide at this time.

On April 3, 2013 at approximately 8:53 pm, Gilroy Police Officers responded to the 7300 Block of Chestnut Street for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and located two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel administered life-saving efforts to Victim Jesse Emmanuel Silos, 30 year-old resident of Firebaugh, but he succumbed to his wounds a short time after at an area hospital.

The second victim (name withheld), a thirty seven year–old male and Gilroy resident, sustained non-life threatening injuries and is expected to survive.

Gilroy Police Detectives and Investigators with the Anti-Crime Team assumed this case. During the course of their investigation they determined that this incident was motivated by gang affiliation.
As a result of their continuous efforts, Gilroy Police Detectives and Anti-Crime Team Investigators developed probable cause to arrest 21 year-old Gilroy Resident Jose Morales Cortez and a 17 year-old juvenile in connection with this homicide.
