POLICE MAKE ARREST IN SADDLE BROOK TD BANK ARMED ROBBERY
The Saddle Brook Police Department announce the arrest of a suspect of the armed robbery of the TD Bank North (Saddle Brook Branch, 200 Floral Lane) that occurred 11:20 AM on Friday, April 19, 2013. Saddle Brook Police and members of the NJ Division of the FBI developed information that led them to a home at 213 Graham Terrace in Saddle Brook. After developing leads, the residence was placed under surveillance and a short time later, a team of police officers effectuated the arrest of the suspect who was leaving the home at approximately 4:30 PM. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was carrying a bag that was later found to contain the money from the bank robbery along with the handgun and other evidence connected to the crime. The suspect, identified as Jorge L. Rodriguez, DOB 11/28/1967, of 20 Albourne Street South River, NJ was taken into custody and is charged with the robbery, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful use. He is being remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail, no 10% option.
Another person in the home, believed to be an associate of the arrested suspect and the homeowner is identified as Alex Maldanado, DOB 6/17/1968, who was also taken into custody and is only being considered a person of interest at this time. A third individual was temporarily detained at the scene and released.
Saddle Brook Police Department credit the quick actions of persons who provided critical information which allowed the investigators to develop the necessary clues which led to the successful apprehension.
Police from neighboring jurisdictions, including Fair Lawn, Elmwood Park, Bergen County Police and K-9 Units, Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification Crime Scene Unit all assisted and collaborated with Saddle Brook Police and the FBI in the investigation.
