Alcohol Sales to Minors - Decoy Operation in the City of Sonoma

On Friday, April 12, 2013 Deputies from the Sonoma Police Department along with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control conducted a Minor Decoy Operation in the City of Sonoma. In this operation minors entered ABC licensed establishments and attempted to purchase alcohol using their valid driver's licenses. Two establishments, La Casa and Annex Wine Bar, served alcohol to the minors. The employees were issued misdemeanor citations for furnishing alcohol to minors and the establishments will be referred to the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for administrative action.

The Sonoma Police Department is committed to reducing the availability of alcohol to minors through both education and enforcement efforts. Free training classes on responsible beverage service are offered several times during the year to all ABC licensed establishments and their employees. Please call the police department at 707-996-3602 during business hours if interested in attending.

This project is part of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control's Minor Decoy / Shoulder Tap Grant Project, funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
