UPDATE -Deputy Involved Shooting, Lynwood. No deputies injured. Suspect transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a Deputy-Involved Shooting that occurred Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at approximately 1:39 PM, in the 4000 block of Agnes Street, Lynwood.

Investigators have learned a deputy attempted to contact a pedestrian when the pedestrian suddenly produced a handgun and fired at the deputy. A deputy-involved shooting occurred and the suspect was struck. The deputy was not injured.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect's firearm was recovered at the scene.

Attorneys with the Los Angeles Office of Independent Review also respond to the scene and have full access to the facts known to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department throughout every phase of these investigations. Once concluded, every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee.

NARRATIVE:
Investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau are en route to the 4000 block of Agnes Avenue, to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting. No deputies were injured.
