HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – April 8, 2013 – On April 05, 2013 suspect Jerry Serrano (21) of Hollister was arrested by Hollister Police after assaulting two females in the area of Ranchito Court.
At about 11:46 p.m. Hollister Police responded to a report of a male subject assaulting a female. Upon arrival, Officer Michael Paddy heard sounds of someone screaming and observed several people standing around a man kicking a female. The man then punched another female that tried to stop him.
As Officer Paddy approached the group, he un-holstered his Taser and ordered the man, later identified as Serrano, to stop. Serrano would not listen and continued assaulting the females. Officer Paddy reached towards Serrano to pull him away from the females and Serrano attempted to hit Officer Paddy. Officer Paddy used his Taser on Serrano and immobilized him. While Officer Paddy was placing Serrano into handcuffs the large group attempted to interfere.
Officer Paddy was able to keep the unruly group back and control the resisting Serrano until other Officers arrived on scene. As other Officers arrived the large group, that appeared to be gang members, fled the area. The two females that were attacked were also uncooperative and fled the area while Serrano was being arrested.
Serrano continued to resist arrest throughout the encounter with police. He was treated for minor injuries at Hazel Hawkins Hospital prior to being taken to the San Benito County Jail. He was booked for battery, resisting and or obstructing arrest and public intoxication.
