RABUN COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE April 1, 2013
PRESS RELEASE

More than 200 people showed up in Gainesville Thursday night March 28th for Representative Doug Collins' (R-GA) inaugural Firearm Safety Program and the congressman is already planning more elsewhere in the district. The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office will host the program locally on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Amara Center Auditorium in Clayton.
During a 90-minute presentation Thursday night, volunteers from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office introduced gun safety techniques to the 250 people in the audience.
“We were happily surprised to have so many folks here with us tonight,” Collins said after the event. “Educating responsible gun owners and continuing to protect our Second Amendment rights is a top priority for me as a lifelong gun owner, proud NRA member and the only Georgia Republican currently serving on the committee of jurisdiction in the House. The success of this event has been overwhelming. To have so many people interested in protecting our Second Amendments right is inspiring, and it offers hope in the battle I’ll be fighting in Washington against liberal-minded and anti-gun advocacy groups who have little care for our Constitutional rights and liberties.”
“Because of the significant response my office received, we have planned four additional firearm safety programs in Habersham, Fannin, Jackson and Rabun counties. I look forward to meeting with folks at each of these events, and am optimistic about continued large turnouts.”
Anyone wishing to attend should email GA09FirearmSafetyEvent@mail.house.gov or call Collins’ District Office at (770) 297-3388.
