Sonoma Police Minor Decoy Operation

On Friday, March 29, 23013 Deputies from the Sonoma Police Department conducted a Minor Decoy Operation in the City of Sonoma and surrounding Sonoma Valley area. In this operation under aged decoys entered 21 establishments licensed by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and attempted to purchase alcohol. Out of the 21 establishments visited, 2 establishments sold alcohol to the minors. The businesses cited were Boyes Food Center in Boyes Hot Springs and Easy Stop Market in Sonoma. The employees of the businesses were issued misdemeanor citations for furnishing alcohol to minors and the businesses are being referred to the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for administrative violations.

In addition to these violations, a 17 year old was caught purchasing alcohol from the Boyes Food Center using a driver's license that belonged to a different person over 21 years of age. The minor was cited and released to his parents.

The Sonoma Police Department offers quarterly classes for responsible beverage service free of charge to the community. Please call 707-996-3602 if interested in attending. The next class will be on April 17, 2013.
