Roads in the Lafayette State Police District Are Becoming Snow Packed and Slick

The road conditions in the Lafayette District have become snow packed, icy and slick. The Counties included in the Lafayette District are Carroll, Clinton, Benton, Warren, White, Montgomery, Fountain and Tippecanoe.

I-65 between the 201 mile marker and the 147 mm have become slick with heavy snowfall causing major problems. The Indiana State Police at Lafayette are currently working numerous slide-offs, several property damage crashes and one serious personal injury crash at the 182 mm. The interstate is open with some areas down to one lane. Traffic is moving at a very slow speed and in some areas we are experiencing a small back-up due to crashes.

I-74 is slick with heavy snow buildup on the interstate. The Indiana State Police are working several slide-offs and a property damage crash. The interstate is open but moving at a slow pace.

State, US and County Roads in the district are treturous to travel on. Snow, blowing snow and icy roads are causing travel to be extremely difficult. State and County Highway Trucks are out at this time and are trying to keep up with the snowfall. If you must travel, keep a good distance between yourself and the vehicle in front of you. Avoid travel if it is not necessary.
