Weekly Crime Summary Time Period: March 10th – March 16th

Homicides – Between 3/10-3/16, there were no homicides. In 2013 YTD, there have been four homicides. In 2012 YTD, there were five homicides.

Rape – Between 3/10-3/16, there were no reported rapes. In 2013 YTD, there have been five reported rapes. In 2012 YTD, there were 9 reported rapes.

Robberies – Between 3/10-3/16, there were three reported robberies. There were no armed robberies and three strong-arm robberies. These three incidents occurred along RD 2843. Two of the three incidents occurred between 5:00 pm -6:00 pm. In 2013 YTD, total robberies are down approx. 8% from 2012.

Aggravated Assaults – Between 3/10-3/16, there were 15 reported incidents of aggravated assault. Those incidents include four domestic violence incidents and two child assault incidents. During this period, there were four ADW-Gun incidents (2 gang-related incidents). The two gang-related incidents occurred in District II. In 2013 YTD, aggravated assaults are up approx. 45% from 2012.

Residential Burglary – Between 3/10-3/16, there were 9 reported residential burglaries. Four incidents occurred between 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. During this time period, four incidents occurred in District I and three incidents occurred in District II. In 2013 YTD, residential burglaries are up approx. 2% from 2012.

Comm/Other Structure Burglary – Between 3/10-3/16, there were two reported comm/other structure burglaries. In 2013 YTD, there have been 37 reported incidents. In 2012 YTD, there 27 were reported incidents.

Grand Theft Auto – Between 3/10-3/16, there were 20 reported stolen vehicles. Peak hours of occurrence were 1:00 am - 5:00 am (Thurs/Sat) & 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm (Fri/Sat). The most frequent vehicles stolen were 90’s model Honda Accords (3), Honda Civics (2). During this time period, District IV had six reported stolen vehicles (3 in RD 2843). District II also had six reported stolen vehicles during this time period (3 in RD 2820). In 2013 YTD, GTAs are up approx. 27% from 2012.


Vehicle Burglary – Between 3/10-3/16, there were 5 reported vehicle burglaries. Four incidents occurred between 11:00 pm – 2:00 am. During this time period, there were two vehicle burglaries in District I. In 2013 YTD, there have been 59 reported incidents; up approx. 28% from 2012.

• Grand Thefts from Vehicle: Incident occurred between 3/1, 7:00 pm & 3/11, 6:00 am at 15100 Block of S. San Pedro St, GARDENA, Diesel fuel was stolen from 4 freightliners at the location. There were 3 previous thefts from vehicles at this location in January in the EM hrs between Wednesday and Friday.
