UPDATE - Tip leads to arrest of 2 Suspects in JC Penney robbery theft and assault

The West Covina Police Department has arrested two suspects wanted in connection with the February 24, 2013 Robbery Theft and Assault that occurred at the JC Penney store.
Detectives received a tip from a citizen who saw the suspect photos which had been posted Tuesday in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune Newspaper’s Website, which led to the identification of the two suspects. Investigators worked throughout that night with the information provided and secured search and arrest warrants for the two suspects. At about 12:30am Wednesday morning, Detectives served the warrants at the 1700 block of East “D” Street in Ontario. Both suspects were arrested at the location without incident. The property stolen from JC Penney was recovered in the residence. A 7-month old infant found in the location was released to a family member.
Arrested for Robbery and Felonious Assault are:
Roman Daniel Landero, 36 of Ontario
Monica Belen Ortiz, 24 of Ontario
Bail for both is presently set at $500,000.00 and they will appear at West Covina Superior Court on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 8:30am.

This was clearly another example of the Police and the Community coming together to achieve the common goal of keeping the City of West Covina a safe and wonderful place to live and work.
