William S. Hart Regional Park Entrance Beautification Project Dedication

William S. Hart Regional Park Entrance Beautification Project Dedication

On March 11, 2013, Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Director Russ Guiney, City of Santa Clarita Mayor Pro-Tem Laurene Weste, and Director and President of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, Dr. Jane Pisano, gathered at William S. Hart Regional Park in Newhall to Dedicate the Entrance Beautification Project. The newly renovated front entrance of the park included wrought iron entry gates and landscaping, and an electric marquee that will enhance the park for many years to come.

William S. Hart, also known as "Two Gun Bill," was the first cowboy movie star during the silent film era. He made 76 silent movies from 1914 to 1925, and donated his sprawling 265-acre ranch for the public to enjoy. The park features Hart’s mansion which is now a museum filled with his personal effects and movie paraphernalia, along with Native American artifacts and Western art.

Also on hand at the dedication were Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Mounted Enforcement Detail Deputies from Parks Bureau who provided the honor guard for the dedication. Personnel from Parks Bureau provide law enforcement services for William S. Hart Regional Park, along with the 177 county parks, golf courses and special event venues throughout Los Angeles County.
