Narrative:
On 3/10/2013 at approximately 0042hrs, Burlington Police Officers were dispatched to 52 North Winooski Avenue for a report of a possible domestic in progress.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that the male suspect, later identified as Daniel Matis, had been "tripping" for 4 days on something similar to LSD.
There were 2 victims identified who reported that Matis had assaulted them. One victim reported that Matis bit her on the face and then told her he was "sorry," and picked her up and slammed her to the ground with what she described as having "super human strength."
Another victim reported that Matis grabbed his head with enough force that his hair was pulled out. This victim also pointed to his mouth where Matis bit him. This victim reported that Matis had punched him with a closed fist in the jaw.
Officers could hear a male screaming from upstairs and what sounded like items being thrown into the wall and breaking in the room.
Once confronted by the Officers, Matis fought with officers and a taser was deployed. Matis was acting in an extremely violent and bizarre manner, even after he was in custody. A Burlington Fire Dept ambulance was summoned to transport him for a medical evaluation.
Matis has pretrial conditions of release for pending charges. Matis' previous criminal history includes 13 misdemeanor charges with 11 convictions, 3 felony charges with 2 convictions, 8 failures to appear, and 8 assaultive crimes with 7 convictions. Matis has multiple violent aggravated and simple assault charges and convictions.
