Three Teens Dead in Two Vehicle Crash
Ripley County: This morning at approximately 9:46 a 911 call came in to Ripley County Communications reporting a serious crash at the intersection of Fairgrounds Road and County Road 850W in western Ripley County. According to Master Trooper Ben Bastin, a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 (dually) driven by 17 year old Thomas D. Crawford of Dillsboro was eastbound on Fairgrounds Road and 1996 Ford F250 pickup driven by 17 year old Timothy C. Bowman of Osgood was northbound on County Road 850W. As both vehicles approached the four way stop intersection, preliminary reconstruction findings indicated both vehicles disregarded the stop sign and the Dodge struck the F250 broadside. After impact both vehicles traveled off the roadway approximately 100 feet into a cornfield in the northeast corner of the intersection.
Killed: Timothy C. Bowman, 17, of Osgood-Driver of 1996 Ford F250
Jacob Vogel, 18, of Versailles-Passenger in 1996 Ford F250
Samantha R. Hanson, 18, of Holton-Front seat passenger in 1996 Dodge Ram 3500
Injured: Thomas D. Crawford, 17, of Dillsboro-Driver of 1999 Dodge Ram 3500-Transported to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville then transferred to University of Cincinnati Hospital with chest injuries.
Caleb M. Cumberworth, 15, of Holton-back seat passenger of 1999 Dodge Ram 3500-suffered minor injury to his hand. Transported to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville.
Kayla Adkinson, 15, of Holton-transported to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville with unknown injuries.
All six persons were students from South Ripley High School attending a Future Farmers of America
function at the Hopewell Church just south of the crash scene.
The crash remains under investigation.

scene was Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Holton and Versailles Fire Departments, Ripley County
EMS, and the Ripley County Coroner’s Office.
