Indiana State Police Participate in “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Campaign

Beginning Friday, March 8, Indiana State Police will be joining more than 250 other Indiana law enforcement agencies in participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. The 16-day effort will continue through March 24, which covers a number of March sporting events and the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.

Troopers will be conducting high visibility enforcement efforts including sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols targeting impaired and dangerous drivers.

Last year, according to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, there were 6,264 alcohol-related crashes in Indiana with 97 fatalities. During the month of March, there were 524 alcohol-related crashes and six fatalities reported. Just last year on St. Patrick’s Day, there were 33 alcohol-related crashes that occurred on Indiana roadways.

The Indiana State Police are committed to traffic safety and will continue to conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints to apprehend impaired drivers and to deter others from drinking and driving.
