MEDIA ADVISORY - DEATH INVESTIGATION - 5025 WICKS DRIVE

(INDIANAPOLIS) – At approximately 1:42 PM, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 5000 blk. of Wicks Dr. on a 9-1-1 call of an unresponsive person. The caller to 9-1-1 later updated dispatchers that a person had possibly been shot.

Officers arrived and found 28-year-old David McMiller (family has been notified and identity confirmed through the Marion County Coroner’s office) of Indianapolis unresponsive inside his apartment. EMS crews arrived and unfortunately pronounced the victim as deceased. Investigators believe the victim may have been shot or stabbed, but will await the results of a planned autopsy tomorrow morning by the Marion County Coroner’s office before a final confirmation of injuries is known. Investigators also believe that three small children were present during what investigators believe was a fierce struggle between the victim and the suspect or suspects. The children were not harmed, and they have been released to the custody of Child Protective Services. Detectives have no one in custody at this time.

This is an active investigation and detectives urge anyone with information reference this incident to call the police at 317.327.3475 or CRIME STOPPERS at 317.262.TIPS (8477). Callers can also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274627(CRIMES).
