The Newton Police Department is a Civil Service Law Enforcement Agency, which encourages men, women and minority candidates to take the Massachusetts Civil Service Exam for police officer. The exam is given every two years.
Eligible officer selection is made from established Commonwealth of Massachusetts Human Resources Division (HRD) eligibility Lists. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts conducts Police Officer Entry Level examinations.
