Former Teacher Facing Sex Charges

Franklin County: Earlier today Detective Kip Main arrested 29 year old James D. Spivey of Brookville on a Franklin Circuit Court warrant charging him with Child Seduction a Class D Felony. The investigation began on February 6, 2013 when information was received by the Indiana State Police alleging Spivey, a teacher and basketball coach at Connersville High School was involved in a sexual relationship with a 17 female student and basketball player at Connersville High School. The investigation revealed Spivey and the student began a relationship shortly after the start of the basketball season which later became a sexual relationship with the encounters occurring at Spivey’s residence. Upon completion of the investigation Det. Main turned his findings over to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office which subsequently resulted in the charge being filed against Spivey. Spivey resigned his position as a teacher/coach at Connersville High School shortly after the investigation began.

Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
