PRESS RELEASE
DATE / TIME OF RELEASE: 02/05/13, 1:45 PM INCIDENT: Burglary Attempt
PRESS RELEASE OFFICER: Lieutenant Randall Brandt
TELEPHONE: 510-577-3232
DATES/TIME: 02/04/13, 11:30 AM
LOCATIONS: 100 block of Beverly Avenue, South of Durant Avenue
INVESTIGATING DETECTIVE: Detective Walton
SUSPECT(S): 16 year old male subject that resides in Oakland.
DETAILS:
On 02/04/13, around 11:30 AM, an alert citizen observed a subject they did not recognize at her neighbor’s front door. The suspect eventually went around toward the back of her neighbor’s residence. The witness immediately reported her observations to our communications center and officers were dispatched to the scene. Officers arrived on scene and located a subject matching the suspect’s description.
The subject was detained and officers went to the residence where the subject was seen and discovered there were fresh pry marks on window frames.
The witness identified the subject detained as the suspect in the incident and he was arrested for attempting to break into the residence.
Lt. Randall Brandt stated, “This alert citizen prevented her neighbor’s house from getting broken into. This is a common trend that suspects will go to the front door of houses they intend to burglarize and knock. If there is no answer at the door they go around to the backyards and find a way into the residence.”
