SCV Sheriff’s Station Conducts Pre-Dawn Multiple Location Parole / Probation Compliance Operation Nets Two Arrests.

On Friday, February 01, 2013, deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Special Assignment Team (S.A.T.) and Crime Prevention Unit (CPU), along with a probation officer from the Los Angeles County Probation Department, conducted a multiple location parole / probation compliance operation during the early morning hours.

This operation is part of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's ongoing proactive efforts to ensure that convicted criminals living in the Santa Clarita Valley are in compliance with the terms and conditions of their probation after release from jail. Today’s operation focused on convicted criminals living in the Canyon Country area (Zones 7 and 8).

Our primary responsibility as law enforcement is to keep the community safe. Many of the persons contacted in this morning’s operation had been released under the State of California’s (AB-109) Post Release Community Supervision program.

During a check of a residence located in the 18900 block of Nearbrook Street, Canyon Country, two Hispanic males fled the location as soon as deputies arrived to conduct the compliance check. It was later discovered the residence had a surveillance system that would alert occupants of vehicles and pedestrians approaching. A containment of an area near Homyr Place and Soledad Canyon Road was established. Both males were discovered hiding on the roof of a local business inside the containment area.

During a subsequent compliance check of the residence, numerous items of contraband were recovered including:

Two firearms, ammunition, and a small wooden Billy club type bat.

Lock picking tools, shaved car keys, a slim-jim, and other miscellaneous burglary tools.

Narcotics Paraphernalia including a digital scale and numerous glass methamphetamine pipes.

Narcotics, including ecstasy (MDMA) and methamphetamine.

Jason Flint, a 26 year-old male Hispanic, currently on parole under the State of California’s early release (AB-109) Post Release Community Supervision Program was arrested. Jeremy Flint, a 20 year-old male Hispanic, was also arrested. Both were booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. Some of the booking charges include possession of a controlled substance and possession of burglary tools.

It is the goal of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to assist post release supervised persons in becoming viable members of society. To do this, new programs are being developed and implemented and resources allocated or realigned. Resource guides are available at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and quarterly life skills courses are being developed to provide offenders with the educational tools, employment resources, and training to reintegrate into society and reduce recidivism.

These types of operations and others just like it will continue throughout the year to ensure that convicted criminals remain in compliance. Criminals who choose to break the law and are caught will be arrested. It is the goal of all deputies working in the Santa Clarita Valley to send a loud and clear message to criminals, “Commit Crime? - Not in the Santa Clarita Valley!”
