TORNADO WATCH 17 IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 100 PM

ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP AHEAD OF AN
APPROACHING STRONG COLD FRONT. A LINE OF STRONG TO SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS...WITH ISOLATED TORNADOES...WAS MOVING EAST AT 45 MPH
ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE. THESE STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS WILL BE
AFFECTING THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU AND SEQUATCHIE VALLEY COUNTIES
AROUND DAYBREAK...THEN MOVE QUICKLY EAST INTO THE VALLEY COUNTIES
OF EAST TENNESSEE.

DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS OF 60 TO 70 MPH...AND ISOLATED
TORNADOES WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGER STORMS. STAY TUNED
FOR POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

* EVENT...AS A COLD FRONT APPROACHES...SOUTH WINDS WILL INCREASE
EARLY THIS MORNING TO 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO NEAR 40 MPH.
WHEN SHOWERS AND STORMS MOVE INTO THE AREA...NEAR THE
FRONT...LOCAL WIND GUSTS OVER 50 MPH ARE POSSIBLE. THEN...AFTER
THE FRONT PASSES...WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE WEST...AND CONTINUE
STRONG AND GUSTY AS COLDER AIR PUSHES INTO THE REGION.

* TIMING...SOUTH WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS MORNING. THE FRONT IS
EXPECTED TO PASS BY THE AFTERNOON..WITH THE GUSTY WEST WINDS
CONTINUING THROUGH THE EVENING.

* IMPACTS...LOOSE OBJECTS COULD BE BLOWN AROUND...VEHICLES WILL
BE BUFFETED BY STRONG CROSS WINDS...AND A FEW SHALLOW-ROOTED
TREES COULD BE UPROOTED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT WINDS OF 26 TO 39 MPH AND/OR GUSTS OF
40 TO 57 MPH ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN
