MDOT Courtesy Patrols begin on February 1, 2013

The Michigan Department of Transportation has provided courtesy patrols for some time now across much of the Metropolitan Detroit region. These patrols, created to provide both citizens and visitors with courteous and effective assistance to motorists on our freeways, will begin service in Washtenaw County on Friday, February 1, 2013.

MDOT has established two patrol zones; one zone is on US-23 between Brighton and Ann Arbor and the other zone covers Washtenaw County’s urban center including US-23, M-14 and I-94.

Sheriff Clayton’s Metro Dispatch leadership team met last week with MDOT’s implementation group to coordinate services and to establish several communications methods that will assure a timely response to motorists that may be broken down on the freeway.

While MDOT is unable to provide this service 24-hours a day, they have made a commitment to operate their courtesy patrols during peak travel times on weekdays and weekends… including during special events such as UofM football games.

If you have any questions, please contact Kari Arend with MDOT at (517) 750-0406.
