Updated Narrative:

Sheriff's Homicide Detectives are continuing their investigation of an Officer-Involved shooting that occurred in the city of Gardena today at 3:46 AM.

Investigators have learned that Gardena Police Officers were responding to an armed-robbery call at a local convenience store. The officers arrived and saw two male Hispanic suspects running from the store and attempted to detain them.

The suspects, one of whom was armed with a knife, failed to comply at which time an officer-involved shooting occurred, injuring one suspect. That suspect was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The second suspect fled the scene but was later arrested and taken into custody by assisting Gardena PD units about a block away.


No officers were injured during this incident.

NARRATIVE:

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives responded to the 800 block of 168th Street, Gardena, to assist with a Gardena Police Department officer-involved hit shooting investigation.


No officers were injured. One suspect was wounded and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The second suspect was arrested without incident.
