Subject: Police Promotions
The Sun Prairie Police and Fire Commission, acting on a recommendation from Police Chief Patrick Anhalt, appointed Officer Ryan Cox and Officer Raymond Thomson to the position of sergeant. The appointment for Sergeant Ryan Cox will become effective on January 28, 2013. The appointment for Sergeant Raymond Thomson will become effective on August 12, 2013.
Ray Thomson
Officer Ray Thomson has served with the Sun Prairie Police Department for the past five years and is currently assigned to late shift patrol. Ray has specialized in gang intelligence and intervention and his skills in this area have helped create the department’s proactive gang response plan. In addition, Ray serves as a field training officer. Ray volunteers extensively in the community, including the giving of his personal time to YMCA youth programs. He holds a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and resides in the City of Sun Prairie.
Ryan Cox
Acting Sergeant Ryan Cox has been with the Sun Prairie Police Department for four years. Ryan is an acting supervisor in patrol and is currently assigned to the second shift. In addition to his work in patrol, he is a defensive tactics instructor and assists with the training of the department’s K-9 unit. Ryan volunteers in the community and his efforts have included participation in the construction of the Dream Park located at Angell Park proper. He has a degree from Western Illinois University and lives in the City of Sun Prairie.
