A residential burglary occurred in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County in Stevenson Ranch. During the burglary the resident took a photograph of the suspect with her cell phone. The photograph was released to the public and lead Detective Chuck Christensen was notified of the suspect’s identity.
A resident from the City of Santa Clarita saw the media coverage and notified Detective Christensen of a possible name of the suspect.
Detective Christensen was able to positively identify Karen Kapshanyan as the burglary suspect involved in this burglary.
Surveillance teams from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station along with Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau observed the location while Detective Christensen penned a Search Warrant. Detectives from Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant at the home of Suspect Kapshanyan at approximately 2100 hrs. He was arrested and booked for residential burglary.
Suspect Kapshanyan will be arraigned at San Fernando Superior Court in Sylmar on 01/10/13. Santa Clarita Station would like to thank the citizens for their calls that led to the arrest of Suspect Kapshanyan.
