Traffic Advisory: Liliha Street Water System Improvement Project to Begin on January 2, 2013

The Board of Water Supply (BWS) is scheduled to begin work to replace 1,700 feet of distribution pipeline and appurtenances on Liliha Street, from North King Street to School Street, beginning on January 2, 2013. Roadwork will be conducted Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A contractor will be replacing a 12-inch waterline installed in 1926.

This project will improve fire protection, help to reduce the likelihood of emergency water main breaks, and enhance water service to residents and businesses in the area.

Construction will begin at North King Street and will continue mauka towards School Street. Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes during construction hours if possible. Drivers traveling through the construction area are asked to please abide by posted traffic signs and allow for additional travel time. The water system improvement project is expected to be completed sometime around November 2013, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
