Update: 7PM, Thursday: California Highway Patrol Officers report they have Suspect Ahmad Smadi in custody in the Oxnard area of Ventura County.

WANTED: Son throws incendiary device thru parent’s Castaic home window in SCV. Contacts in Sun Valley, Burbank, Glendale. Last seen in Oxnard - LASD Arson and FBI


On Thursday, Dec. 13th at 6:20AM, a suspect threw a Molotov Cocktail that was lit, through a window into a home on the 30500 block of Corsica Place, Castaic (Co.).

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrived on scene and found that the device did not function as designed and there was no fire or injuries.

Sheriff’s Arson / Explosives Detail investigators arrived and investigated the scene and possible suspect, assisted by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Investigators believe the person responsible for the attack is Suspect Ahmad Smadi, a 26-year old resident of Sun Valley. The home belongs to the parents of the suspect, and the suspect has made threats against family members.

Suspect Ahmad Smadi is wanted for felony Use of a Destructive Device (18740 CA Penal Code) and Making Terrorist Threats (422 CA Penal Code). He also is possible facing federal charges that are under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

He is described as:

6’03” , 150-170 pounds, short brown hair, brown eyes, Middle Eastern descent

He was last seen driving a 1998 Honda Accord at about 6:00PM on Thursday, Dec. 13th Northbound on the 101 Freeway South of Vineyard Ave in Oxnard. A search is underway. The car was impounded by the California Highway Patrol.

Due to threats that were made against his roommates, friends, and family members, investigators have also made contact or attempted to contact relatives and friends in Sun Valley, Burbank and Glendale.
