1 Injured in Traffic Crash

Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that his deputies handled a personal injury crash on M 51 just north of Wells Street in Pokagon Township Cass County MI on December 12th, 2012 at 8:50 PM.

The driver identified as Krista Hartman, 35 from Dowagiac, reported that she was headed north bound when she struck a horse that was in the north bound lane. Also in the vehicle was 2 year old Alexander Hartman from Dowagiac. Ms. Hartman was transported to South Bend Memorial for treatment of her injuries.

Pride Care Ambulance, Pokagon Fire and the Michigan State Police assisted deputies at the scene.

Seat belts and child restraints were used at the time of the accident which remains under investigation.
