Subject: Threatening Statement at Sun Prairie High School
The Sun Prairie Police Department recently investigated a statement made by a 17-year-old high school student. The student is Ryan B. Cox of Sun Prairie. The statement itself referenced a shooting at graduation.
The Sun Prairie Police Department has worked closely with the Sun Prairie School District to ensure the safety of students and staff. The individual making the threatening statement is no longer at the high school and the School District has taken steps to keep parents and students informed of developments.
The Sun Prairie Police Department completed an investigation and the student was referred to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office with a requested charge of one count of Disorderly Conduct in violation of State Statutes.
Thank you.
Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
