Wkly Test: @ Duty Officer Status. Cold/Wet/Windy on Wed. Great holiday gift:Handcrank radio!Dec is build-a-kit month!

The Office of Emergency Management is at Duty Officer Status.

December is build-a-kit month. Go to Facebook.com/SBCountyOEM to see a couple of great videos. It’s easy to build a kit and the handcrank radio can be a cool holiday gift. Look for a built-in flashlight. Some have cell phone chargers (remember in NYC when everyone’s cell phones were going dead because of no power). Just Google “handcrank radio”.

Learn more about building a kit at http://www.ready.gov/build-a-kit.

OEM will monitor incoming weather. At this time, operational issues do not appear to be of concern. Normal cautionary warnings around driving and slowing down should be remembered.

According to the National Weather Service/Oxnard:
