Speeder Ends Up In Jail

Boone County-Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2:50 p.m, an Indiana State Trooper stopped a car on State Road 39 near County Road 900 north in Boone County and discovered the driver was a Habitual Traffic Violator (HTV).

Trooper Nate King of the Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Division was traveling north bound on SR 39 when he noticed a car approaching at a high rate of speed. The gray 2001 Ford Taurus driven by Roberto Lucio, 30 years old from Frankfort, IN was southbound on SR 39. As Trooper King started to slow and turn on the Taurus to stop it, the car increased speed as if to run from the Trooper. The vehicle jumped a small bridge and then turned into a drive and parked. Lucio exited the vehicle as if he knew who lived there. Trooper King pulled up and ordered Lucio to his police car. Upon questioning Lucio, Trooper King discovered that Lucio did not know who lived there and he was trying to elude the officer.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Lucio was HTV for 10 years and was out on work release from Clinton County Jail. Trooper King transported Lucio to the Boone County Jail and charged him with HTV a Class D felony, Operating a Vehicle While Never Licensed a Class a Misdemeanor, Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle a Class D Felony and speeding a Class A Infraction. Lucio is being held on a no bond order.
