The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Shakespeare (14th) District at North Ave & Albany. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012 and end at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012.

During roadside safety checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals and watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations as noted below.

“This program is conducted year round to ensure drivers are operating their vehicles safely,” said Superintendent, Garry F. McCarthy. “This is part of an ongoing strategy to keep the city
streets safe for Chicago’s residents and commuters.”

The Roadside Safety Check conducted in the Harrison (11th) District on November 23-24, 2012 resulted in the following:

Driving Under the Influence 9
Drivers’ License Violations 12
Insurance Violations 5
Other Citations 7
Total Citations 33
Non-Traffic Arrests 1 – Theft
Vehicles Towed 10
